Darin Velin was born and raised in Montana. He graduated cum laude from Concordia College – Moorhead with BA’s in Organizational Communication and Philosophy. He wrote his Senior thesis on Philosophy of Language. He was a featured writer in the college newspaper and a published poet. He also co-hosted a weekly radio program, “The Ska Show with Rudy and Dr. D.”

Darin started his professional writing career during college as an intern with Microsoft Great Plains, focusing on Marketing Communications. He started working for Microsoft full-time after graduation, moving to the Seattle area in 2005.

Darin left Microsoft in 2015 to join a technology start-up founded by some former Microsoft colleagues.

When he isn’t behind a keyboard, Darin enjoys playing Pokémon TCG or chess with his son, playing with his dog, watching movies, playing table-top games, and dreaming of fast cars.
